I had the extreme pleasure of being the featured events Writer and Photographer for The Temecula Insider last Monday evening. Take a look at how incredible the night's event turned out...

Monday, November 14th was a fantastic celebration for an even greater cause. The event which drew hundreds of local residents, businesses and most assuredly golfers, was in honor of the Oak Grove Center for Education Treatment and the Arts. “This was our 4th annual event for Oak Grove… we have doubled in size since last year!  It’s truly incredible to see such a tremendous turnout of support!” said Tammy Wilson, CEO of Oak Grove Center.

The day’s events teed off with the Oak Grove Golf Classic and ended with a delectable evening that left no taste-bud dissatisfied. The Southern California’s Top Chef Event consisted of 9 local chef’s competing to win the People’s Choice Award for Top Chef.  The participating chef’s included…

The evening transpired with much mingling and taste testing, silent and live auctions and one incredible rendition of our National Anthem by none other than our very own  Brewer Boys! As the end drew near, diners cast their final votes for this years Top Chef! A resounding laughter and cheer erupted when Chef Francesco Cusimano of Rustico Ristorante Pizzaria won for his excellence in Presentation, Artistic Interpretation and best of all Taste! Congratulations Chef Cusimano on your 2011 Peoples Choice Award for Top Chef of Southern California!

It is important to take note and remember most what this spectacular evening was designed to do…raise both money, awareness and support for the Oak Grove Center for Education, Treatment & The Arts and to work towards attaining their goal of raising $500,000 to build their Gymnasium-Mulit-purpose room project that will include a CIF-sized Basketball and Volleyball court, a Performing Arts Room, Occupational Therapy-Play room and a recreational area.

Oak Grove Center for Education and The Arts, a nonprofit organization founded in 1989, is a 24 hour educational and residential treatment center that serves 76 children full time and 90 day students with a variety of psychological, social, emotional, behavioral, medical and neurological problems that stem from behavioral difficulties, school problems, family dysfunction, sexual abuse and other traumas. Through a contract with Riverside Department of Social Services, Oak Grove now provides Wraparound services to families struggling to reunite with a child who has been removed from their care or is at risk of having a child removed. In addition, Oak Grove at the Ranch, their second WASC Accredited Non-Public School facility, located in Perris, CA provides a comprehensive, standards-based program including vocational, therapeutic and transitional services. Both campuses now provide Autism Services.

Enjoying this event with our community, chatting with friendly faces, watching a room full of happy strangers engaged in conversation, laughter,  a gentle crisp fall breeze, a glass of wine on the patio by the fire, the water towers glowing in the background of the serene golf course view…. a beautiful evening that sums up perfectly that which we all have the pleasure of partaking in and most assuredly that which Oak grove strives to make their mission “rebuilding the lives of at-risk children and their families through education, healing restoration, restoring relationships, building character and instilling hope.”
